This team was formed as a direct result of the New York World Trade Center terrorist incident on September 11, 2001.

Midwest Search & Rescue K-9 Team is a nonprofit organization. It is composed of experienced professionals. Consisting of K-9 handlers and support personnel, Midwest SARK-9 provides special search & rescue services to requesting agencies without costs.

Based in Illinois, team members have responded to rescue efforts as far away as New York, during our nations gravest hour in recent history. On 9-11-01, team members responded to the World Trade Center incident, arriving as one of the first K-9 teams to "work the pile". 

K-9 Miranda began to make her presence known.  As the week progressed, many emergency workers would request her by name. Miranda was frequently called to substantiate the alerts of other K-9 teams.
